Forest protection committee bares 2nd quarter anti-illegal logging accomplishments

Tandag City, Surigao del Sur (August 23, 2016). The Provincial Multisectoral Forest Protection Committee (PMFPC) of Surigao del Sur revealed its anti-illegal logging accomplishments for the second quarter on July 29, 2016 held at Shacene Pension House, this city.

 

Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office has conducted 29 positive operations; arrested 21 persons; confiscated a total of 23,894.04 board feet of various log species; and has filed cases against four person from the month of April to June 2016.

DENR PENRO Surigao del Sur reported that from the month of April to June 2016 has confiscated 19,053.09 board feet of lumber and 39.46 cubic meter of logs with one Hino Wing Van Truck, one Isuzu Forward and one Tricycle containing illegally transported forest products.

 

“The significant accomplishment was made possible with a joint effort of DENR partners in Philippine Army and Philippine National Police in the pursuit of minimizing the occurrence of Illegal Logging and Illegal Trade of Forest Products in the whole province of Surigao del Sur,” said OIC PENR Officer Jose Flavio V. Concha.

 

The PMFPC meeting held on July 29, 2016 at Tandag City was attended by the representative of the different sectors including Department of Public Ways and Highways- Surigao del Sur, PNP- Surigao del Sur Provincial Police Office, Philippine Information Agency- Surigao del Sur, National Commission on Indigenous People- Surigao del Sur, PENRO Local Government Unit SDS, Office of the Provincial Agriculture-SDS, Diocese of Tandag-Community Organizer, 36th IB, 75th IB and 402nd Brigade of the Philippine Army, Department of Interior and Local Government- SDS and CENROs of Cantilan, Bislig and Lianga.
